No Justice! No Peace!

Image
Union Square, NYC
A day after hearing that Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges, with a heavy heart, I went down to 14th St. to join the rally/march. I was way behind so I caught a cab to meet my friends on 34th St. The cab driver didnt even know about the Trayvon Martin trial at all! I told him everything and answered all of his questions. He was so upset. His exact words were, "but why isn't Zimmerman guilty?"

I felt like it was meant for me to be in that cab, just to enlighten him. I explained to him that we live in a country full of corruption and greed, where mere facts that should lead to fair consequences get ignored. These same facts that were given in the Trayvon Martin case were ignored because of race and greedy politicians, in my humble opinion.

When I finally got to the march, I found myself leading a chant yelling, "NO JUSTICE!" while the crowd answerd, "NO PEACE!" We chanted all the way down to 42nd, w…

Re-Defining Myself

It's literally been a week today and already, I have changed the name of my site. What I was going into as a hobby has become a serious addiction, which can also be phrased as passion. Can one have more than one passion? Absolutely! At 27, a few of my passions are educating young minds, serving the community with P.Y.N.K. So when looking at who am I as an individual at this stage in my life, versus who I was at 24 when first defining my style, I discovered that Vintage Homeless was a younger version of the woman I am now. Valencia's Garden speaks volumes about who I am today. For starters, Valencia is my God-given name. No catchy adjectives will ever describe my style, personality, or life better than my own name.
Garden symbolizes all things that grow, which inevitably means, all things that are full of beauty. I am ever growing, as will be my site, and …

The Difference a Day Can Make

Image
These Daylilies are special because they literally bloom over night and pass away the next day. Hence, the name, Day-lily!
Blossoming ...as we all are.

You can see that some of them are going home to Glory...

Before I die....

Candy Chang created this wall on abandoned homes on New Orleans and it has spread across the world.

Here are a few profound comments:

"be the root of a strong, healthy, loving family.."

"find inner peace .."

Be happy. Be strong.
... you can visit this wall on the corner of Main St. (Next to Starbucks) in White Plains, NY.

Alexandra the Great

Image
This crown was named after Alexander the Great, who was tutored by Aristotle until the age of 16. By the age of 30, he built one of the largest empires of the ancient world, stretching from Egypt to the Himalayas. He was undefeated in battle and is considered one of history's most successful commanders.

Each flower in this bouquet has its own meaning:

Teal Sunflower - Serenity
Yellow Daisy - Happiness
