Day 15: Perseverance
So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. -Hebrews 10:35-36
The key word to meditate on tonight is perseverance.
Perseverance is the ability to be steadfast in doing something, no matter how difficult it is.
It's really hard to persevere when things truly seem impossible. People can tell you to have faith and press on but it's easier said than done. Below I have listed a few other things to remember when trying to persevere.
-Focus on the end result
Do not let the woes of the right now deter you from completing your journey. Your dreams are attainable but you will never see what is in store for you if you quit. Nothing worth having comes easy, if it was easy, you wouldn't have made it a goal in the first place.
-Take a break to reflect on how far you have already come
Breathe. Close your eyes and just breathe. It's okay to take a break. Stop signs do not mean that things are over, they simply give you time to think. Once you have reflected, pick up where you left off and go as far as your strength will take you.
-Celebrate your milestones
During your break, give yourself some credit. When you start again, give yourself more credit. Do not make the mistake of waiting until you finish to celebrate your hard work. Love yourself enough to know that your struggle is meaningful and your determination is worthy to be praised.
Keep going. Remember that old saying, when the going gets tough, the tough get going.
